Happy Sunday! Today I've got a little something to share with you from Amy from Beausmith Blog. As a personal trainer, Amy knows her stuff when it comes to fitness. So who better to tell us about the latest fitness trends? Whether it's a personal approach or fun you're after, there's something for everyone. Over to Amy...

During the years I have worked as a professional trainer I have witnessed many trends pass by. What I have noticed is that here, in the UK, people are so busy with their everyday responsibilities, that most of them are looking for a quick yet an effective training that will allow them to stay healthy and fit. Observing the latest season, I picked out some of the most popular fitness trends which are slowly taking over not only my gym, but the world in general...

High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

As I already mentioned, people are always searching for effective and fast ways to get in shape. Because of this, the high-intensity training regime is becoming more and more popular by the minute. This workout holds great benefits as it allows you to burn more fat in less time, it does not require any equipment and also it does wonders for your overall health and metabolism. The best thing about HIIT training is that it is designed to push your body to the maximum, helping you achieve the best possible results. Another great benefit of these short periods of intense activities is that they aid you lose weight without losing any muscles in the process.

Personal Training

Definitely one of my favourite things to do is offer a personalized fitness program to a certain individual. Many people are motivated to workout but simply need a helping hand. Many of them come seeking advice from me or wishing I could develop a fitness program according to their desired goals. It is a great job as you work with an individual, observe how a person develops and how it achieves more with every training. In my opinion, quality personal training is going to stay one of the top hits in 2016 as most people simply need that additional motivation and someone to guide them through the process. It is actually quite a rewarding experience, as you are directly faced with the products of your work and you are aware how many of them appreciate it.

Aerial Yoga

I have to admit that during my years as a professional trainer I have never witnessed so many people being interested in yoga, which is actually quite refreshing to see. In the last couple of seasons many people, men and women, are coming to the gym looking to practice yoga. One of the most popular ones is aerial yoga, sometimes even referred to as anti-gravity yoga. This type of fitness combines the traditional yoga techniques together with Pilates and certain dance movements. What is also interesting is that aerial yoga requires using a special kind of hammock. It was proved to be very effective not only for healing the body, but the mind as well. It is only crucial to have appropriate gym clothes in order to achieve the best possible results.

Kangoo Jumps

Originally developed as a prototype for athletes recovering from certain injuries, kangoo jumps are now becoming one of the most popular trends in the fitness world industry. Using springed boots, people are indulging in certain kind of activities like jogging and running trying to get the most out of their exercise. The sole design of these boots reduces the impact of stress on the joints and actually holds great health benefits. Not only this, but the kangoo jumps are quite often used as a fun way to lose weight, strengthen the muscles and also improve one’s agility and musculoskeletal system.

Wearable Technology

It was only a matter of time when technology would find its way to the gym. When I started doing this business, the only technology used by my clients were stopwatches and good old fitness trackers. Nowadays, I see almost everyone wrapped in all kinds of different devices that are helping them control their workouts. From devices that track your breathing pattern, through those that check your posture up to the ones that are giving you a full feedback on your overall performance, I can truly say that this wearable technology trend is something that could completely change the way we workout in the future.

Trends come and go, but fitness is forever! These few fitness trends are slowly taking over the following year, but we can only imagine what the future has installed for us in the next few years. Whatever you decide on doing, remember that the key is finding a regime suitable for your needs.

  1. I have to get into the habit of doing yoga, but I'm slacking. This is the first time I have heard of Aerial Yoga. Sounds and looks interesting!
