Review: Sleek 24K Gold Collection

Last week I was lucky enough to attend the launch of Sleek's new 24K Gold Collection and to take home the shiny new products. This included their highlighting palette (above), i-Lust Gold Collection eyeshadow palette and Glitter Me sparkling lip glosses in red, pink and - you guessed it - gold. As a big fan of Sleek's make-up (I can't live without their contouring kit, which was recommended to me by a knowledgable and experienced beauty journalist), I couldn't wait to get home and try the new collection out.

At first I was a bit taken aback by the intense colours. I own their Precious Metals Highlighting Kit, which includes four subtle cream highlighters, while the new palette contains three powders in bolder pastel colours and a silver cream. There's no doubt that when the colours are on your face, they're pretty hard to miss! But applied in the right way, they really help to complete a Christmas party look.

The eyeshadow palette is just as bold. With a variety of golden shades, including two cream formulas and four powders, they're absolutely perfect for the winter season. During the party one of Sleek's lovely make-up artists applied a really bright eye on me and I loved it - although I've avoided the cream shadows since as I find my liquid eyeliner sticks to my lids and rubs off when I wear them.

Next up were the 'intense' sparkling lip glosses. Now I like a bold lip just as much as the next person but I generally avoid sticky or glittery glosses, so I was a bit apprehensive about these lippies. The colours are bright but the glossy formula makes them less intense than you're led to believe. I personally think this is a good thing, but others may disagree. My favourite shade is the gold as I felt it's the most natural, but when you're looking for a brighter look the princess pink or rouge red are ideal.

My verdict: If you're looking for some cheap and cheerful make-up to create a Christmas party look with, Sleek's new collection is great. The colours stand out and when used right, can create some amazing looks. But just be warned that your might need to reapply a few times during the night!
