Review: Clinique anti-blemish solutions 3-step system

Since moving to London, it's not just my bank balance that has suffered. As a result of the city's air pollution and recycled water, it has left me with nasty breakouts and painful, itchy skin. During my time living in other parts of the UK, I never had any problems - so finding my skin reacting so badly to life in the big smoke was upsetting. Unfortunately there wasn't much I could do about it...or so I thought.

After trying a multitude of things, I fled to the Clinique counter in one final desperate bid to find my skin some relief. I was met by a friendly skin expert who analysed my skin and promised to help. I was sceptical, but I am always hopeful so I gave it a go.

After completing a short questionnaire, I was told my skin was a combination of oily and dry. I was recommended Clinique's anti-blemish solutions range and told to give up the hugely complicated evening ritual I'd slowly developed after nine months of random beauty products being offered to me at work. I purchased the three-step starter kit and headed home to give it a whirl. I'd heard good things about the brand, so I was hopeful it would do some good. But I never expected it to work so efficiently and to have such a positive impact on my skin.

After just one week using the kit, my skin dramatically changed. I'd had blemishes in one area of my face in particular, and within days they started to heal. And the products weren't drying, either. I was giddy with excitement, and for the first time in a long time I was able to feel good about my skin when I looked in the mirror.

That's not to say I haven't had any spots at all. Almost a month down the line, I still suffer from breakouts - but they always heal quickly with the use of the three-step system. Plus I was told I would need to use the range for three to six months before my skin would completely clear and at the rate it's heading, I'm pretty confident that's true.

The anti-blemish system is the only skincare I have used that has really helped my skin. I've tried so many things and I'm the first to admit when none of them work. But this has made such a difference, I just had to write about it.

Here's how it works...

Step One: Cleansing Foam

Wash your face with the anti-blemish solutions cleansing foam. You can use this to remove your make-up, rather than using creamy or oily make-up removers or face wipes.

Step two: Clarifying Lotion

Using cotton wool, sweep the clarifying lotion across your face to get rid of any remaining dirt or make-up. Your tingle may start to tingle. It just means it's working!

Step three: All Over Clearing Treatment

For the final step, apply the all-over clearing treatment to your face. This is moisturising and cleansing, so you don't need to worry about getting breakouts from your oily moisturiser.

I can't rave enough about this range. If, like me, you want to try before you buy, I recommend the starter kit (above). At £25, it's reasonable and should last you around four weeks. I'm planning on buying the full size products as soon as it hits pay day!
